Job title: Direct Support Professional (DSP)
About the Role Direct Support Professionals (DSP) provide essential supports to people with ID/DD in a residential setting. This role focuses on safety, life-skills training, relationship development, and community participation, aligned with each person’s Life Plan.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct support to residents with ID/DD, ensuring safety and promoting independence.
- Assist with daily living tasks, personal care, and lifts/transfers as needed; participate in emergency planning and evacuations.
- Collaborate with the residence coordinator, residential team, clinicians, and community partners; help implement Life Plans and Staff Action Plans.
- Document care and progress through monthly notes and required clinical documentation.
- Complete agency-required trainings (First Aid, CPR, Medication Administration, SCIP/Ukeru) within three months and maintain current status.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, advocates, and staff; maintain accurate records using Electronic Health Record/Precision Care systems.
- Drive agency vehicles for medical appointments, day programs, and community activities if needed (valid license required).
What We're Looking For
- Ability to physically assist and transfer individuals; respond during behavioral crises using approved techniques.
- Ability to evacuate residence/vehicle/facility during emergencies in line with OPWDD regulations.
- Ability to relate well to people with ID/DD and communicate with families, advocates, peers, and supervisors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; sound judgment and adherence to policies.
- Strong reading, writing, and spoken communication; complete required trainings within three months.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; ability to drive agency vehicles.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $19-$24 per hour (USD).
