Job title: Direct Support Counselor
About the Role The Direct Support Counselor will operate and oversee a residential facility, implementing individuals' programs and providing guidance to residents while maintaining a home-like atmosphere. The role includes supervising housekeeping tasks, assisting with daily living skills, and delivering counseling and support as part of the care team.
What You'll Do
- Provide general guidance and supervision of residents' lives and activities, ensure safety, enforce house rules, and support daily living tasks.
- Oversee house operations, supervise and assist with chores, meals, laundry, shopping, and hygiene.
- Provide medical support including basic care, medication administration per DDS regulations, and coordination of medical appointments and transportation.
- Implement individualized IP goals, attend meetings, and document progress; maintain resident files and confidentiality.
- Support vocational planning and transportation to work; coordinate recreational activities and in-house leisure.
What We're Looking For
- Medication administration certification maintained; valid CT driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 10 pounds, perform standing/bending tasks, attend mandatory in-services, and maintain DDS-required certifications.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $19-$21 per hour (hourly).
- Location: Hamden, CT; Onsite; Full Time.
