Job Title: Digital Media Strategist
Role Overview
- Making of Champions (MoC) is seeking a Digital Media Strategist to power the planning and execution of MoC's communication and digital media strategy, turning strategy into content calendars, campaigns and community growth across all platforms including content, live and behind-the-scenes coverage of MoC's networking events, workshops, masterclasses, product/equipment trials and other engagement activations across Sports, Entertainment and Lifestyle.
- The ideal candidate is smart, hands-on, execution-focused and digitally savvy, thrives on running multiple channels and campaigns, is experienced in on-the-ground event and community content coverage, and is comfortable with analytics and reporting.
- The Digital Media Strategist will report to the Digital Media Manager and will work closely with MoC's Sportswriters, Videographers, Photographers and Graphics Designers.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain and execute MoC's day-to-day content calendar across Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and the MoC website, in line with MoC's overall content strategy.
- Coordinate with Sportswriters, Photographers, Videographers and Graphics Designers to ensure timely, high-quality, on-brand content is produced and scheduled across all formats — written, audio, image and video.
- Ensure brand consistency in tone, voice and messaging across all published content, in line with MoC's brand guidelines.
- Own the day-to-day management of MoC's social and digital channels, including posting cadence, platform-specific formatting, captions and community-facing copy.
- Capture and publish live, in-the-moment content (Stories, Reels, Shorts, live features) from workshops, masterclasses, networking events and media equipment trial activations, in addition to competitions and athlete moments.
- Plan, set up and run paid media campaigns (boosted posts, Meta Ads, YouTube Ads, and other platform ad tools) to support MoC competitions, athlete PR pushes, ecosystem engagement programmes and brand awareness goals.
- Support integrated digital campaigns around competitions and initiatives - Talent Search, Elite Athletics Competitions, professional ecosystem engagement programmes (networking events, workshops, masterclasses, equipment trials), and international events such as the Olympics, World Championships, Commonwealth Games and African Championships.
- Produce regular reports on content and campaign performance, translating data into clear, actionable recommendations for the Digital Media Manager.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of digital experience in agency, media, creative or technology environments.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field (Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media or similar) is beneficial but not required.
- Hands-on experience planning and running multi-channel digital campaigns, including paid media (Meta Ads and/or other platform ad managers).
- Demonstrated experience managing social and digital channels day-to-day content scheduling, community management and channel optimization.
- Comfort producing and coordinating live/on-the-ground content coverage for events, workshops or activations, in addition to planned content calendars.
- Working knowledge of analytics and reporting tools and comfort translating data into recommendations.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple content streams, campaigns and deadlines at once.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for brand voice and detail.
- Genuine interest in or experience in sports, media or entertainment is an advantage; interest in Athletics (Track & Field) is a plus but not mandatory.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
