Job title: Digital Asset Archivist

About the Role The Digital Asset Archivist will be immersed in the day-to-day operations of the NHL’s media management processes. The role oversees ingest of content into the digital asset management system and curates NHL historical assets, ensuring new material is properly archived, tagged, and categorized. Reporting to the Manager, Digital Asset Archive, this position supports multiple internal departments and external organizations as a curator of historical content.

What You'll Do

• Curate and add value to NHL’s historical archive of video, image, and document collections
• Apply metadata to media assets to develop archive into a robust, searchable tool for stakeholders
• Adhere to policies and procedures for populating DAM systems and identify ways to improve workflows and efficiencies
• Conduct in-depth research and identification of assets and elements within them to add value to the database
• Send and receive assets to out-of-house vendors and ensure all media is properly digitized and ingested into DAM system with corresponding metadata
• Perform inventories of media assets within the NHL archive
• Learn and use internal databases for locating, tracking, and maintaining security of tape and file-based assets
• Adapt to changing role requirements and take on additional projects as dictated by changing business priorities

What We're Looking For

• Vast knowledge of hockey history including players, teams, events, etc.
• Background in television and/or sports industries a plus
• Basic understanding of nonlinear editing tools such as Final Cut, Premiere
• Strong computer and research skills; extremely detail oriented
• Able to work both independently and collaboratively; flexible with schedule including nights, holidays, weekends
• Ability to work both in NHL office and remotely as assigned

Nice to Have

• 1+ year of experience working in post-production, broadcast facility or sports organization
• Understanding of DAM systems and media library workflows
• General understanding of video codecs and tape formats
