Job title: Die and Gage Inspector
About the Role The Die and Gage Inspector supports production by inspecting and repairing dies, gages, tools, and form components used in metal stamping and molding. This role ensures quality by reviewing prints, maintaining inspection equipment, performing first article and PPAP activities, and documenting results.
What You'll Do
- Inspect dies, gages, tools, lead or steel forms from dies, iron and non-ferrous material forms from dies, molds or patterns.
- Work with gage, production part, and tool prints.
- Make adjustments and repairs to inspection equipment such as gages, indicators, hardness and torque testers, micrometers, etc., used by production operators or inspectors.
- Inspect first production parts and complete PPAP from any new or altered equipment, tools, or fixtures as required.
- Initiate complete detailed reports on any and all articles inspected.
- Receive, identify, catalogue, store, issue, and inventory all gages and blueprints under gage room control and process all necessary paperwork and material related to the control of same.
- On day shift, provide weekly summaries, perform inspections for all certified parts or safe launches, and collect data from sample inspection; collaborate with production to collect and document machine downtime issues and provide weekly summary.
What We're Looking For
- Experience with die, gage, tool inspection and repair in manufacturing settings.
- Ability to read and interpret gage and production part prints.
- Proficiency in adjusting and repairing inspection equipment (gages, indicators, hardness and torque testers, micrometers).
- Experience with first article inspection and PPAP processes.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and data collection skills; ability to collaborate with production and document machine downtime issues.
- Experience in inventory control of gages and blueprints and gauge-room processes.
Nice to Have
- PPAP/First Article Inspection experience.
- Mold/die background.
