About this role
About the Role The Development Engineer Sr- Software will be responsible for planning and managing projects related to environment modeling, motion planning, behavioral prediction algorithms and software for vehicle control and its interaction with its environment. Testing of these concepts in a simulation environment, its integration into the ADAS projects and the final validation on a customer function level will be part of the responsibilities. What You'll Do
- Product/ Function Development (40%): Plan and coordinate concept vehicle hardware and software development; create, discuss and align concepts for complex software components; develop and cross‑compile C/C++ and CUDA code; build and maintain CI/CD workflows for cross‑compiled ARM64/Linux builds; spread knowledge and create guidelines for other engineers and provide architecture; build/integrate software and algorithms for path planning, behavioral planning and vehicle control; collaborate with cross‑functional teams within the ADAS development departments in Germany and in the US; perform root‑cause analysis and debugging of platform‑specific issues.
- Project Management (20%): Define and trace requirements and change requests; monitor development progress and KPIs; align with local suppliers/development partners; create market‑specific requirements; report project status to Management; define project approval scope and build traceability; define required scope of local test cases (HW/SW testing, platform); plan resources for approval activities; monitor test execution to ensure on‑time approvals; generate approval recommendations; evaluate Start-ups and other cooperation opportunities with local partners to achieve project goals.
- Error Management (20%): Track issues; lead ticket reviews; analyze issues with tooling (CANoe, ADTF, …).
- Verification and Validation (20%): Test algorithms in simulation, in vehicle in controlled environment, and ultimately in vehicle in the field; benchmark and validate navigation systems for final deployment; create test setups for validation and acceptance tests; define required scope of local test cases (HW/SW testing, platform); monitor test execution to ensure on‑time approval. What We're Looking For
- 7–10 years of work experience in environmental modeling and path planning for ADAS and Advanced Parking systems.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics or equivalent with focus on Computer Vision, Motion/Path Planning or related field.
- Desired: Master’s or PhD in Mechatronics, Robotics or equivalent with focus on Computer Vision, Motion/Path Planning or related field.
- Skills: strong knowledge of environmental modeling and planning techniques; motion planning and control theory (e.g., model predictive control, vehicle dynamic modeling); programming in C/C++ and Python; experience with software engineering tools (Git, CMake, CI, gdb); excellent planning, organization and agile project management; analytical and problem‑solving abilities; ability to work independently and in cross‑functional teams; deep understanding of vehicle networks and bus systems.
