About the Role Volkswagen Group seeks a Sr-Software Development Engineer to work on environment modeling, motion planning, and behavioral prediction algorithms for ADAS, with a hybrid work arrangement in San Jose, CA. The role includes testing in simulation, integration into ADAS projects, and final validation at customer function level. What You'll Do
- Develop and cross-compile C/C++ and CUDA code for environment modeling, motion planning, behavioral planning, and vehicle control.
- Build and maintain CI/CD workflows for cross-compiled ARM64/Linux builds.
- Create guidelines and share architecture knowledge; collaborate with ADAS teams in Germany and the US.
- Build/integrate software and algorithms for path planning, behavioral planning, and vehicle control.
- Perform root-cause analysis and debugging of platform-specific issues.
- Manage projects: requirements traceability, progress tracking, supplier alignment, market requirements, status reporting, and test scope definitions.
- Test algorithms in simulation, in controlled environment, and in field deployment. What We're Looking For
- 7-10 years of experience in Environmental Modeling and Path Planning for ADAS and Advanced Parking systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics or equivalent with focus on Computer Vision, Motion/Path Planning or related field; Master’s or PhD desirable.
- Strong programming in C/C++ and Python; experience with Git, CMake, CI, gdb; ROS and/or similar middleware; SLAM; real-time sensor fusion.
- Expertise in environmental modeling, motion/control theory (e.g., model predictive control), and vehicle dynamics; CUDA experience.
- Familiarity with ADTF framework/tools; Vector tools (CANalyzer, CANape); automotive bus systems (CAN, FlexRay).
- Excellent planning, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams; comfortable with ambiguity.
- Deep understanding of vehicle networks and CI/CD for software. Nice to Have
- Good German language skills.
- Knowledge of Artificial Neural Networks (TensorFlow, Keras). Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: USD 159,000 - 222,600 per year for California.
