About the Role The UC Digital Technology Solutions UI/UX team is seeking a Developer 1 to join a collaborative group building software solutions that serve faculty, students, and the community. The role focuses on back-end development and system integrations to support the university’s core business goals, with close collaboration with front-end developers. What You'll Do

• Maintain integration with university systems using enterprise Java technologies.
• Develop back-end solutions to meet immediate and long-term business objectives.
• Work with Front-End Developer to extend CMS components and functionality.
• Integrate solutions with other university and external third-party applications.
• Perform tasks of moderate complexity and contribute both independently and as a team member.
• Perform quality assurance and troubleshoot issues by reading logs, running tests, and coordinating with IT@UC system administrators.
• Participate in project planning; help prepare estimates and operational requirements.
• Assist with technical design specifications and maintain appropriate documentation and code comments.
• Develop user guides and training documentation for systems.
• Maintain scripts and updates due to changing requirements or implementations.
• Assist with setup and maintenance of test environments for manual and automated testing.
• Assist with building and validating automated and manual deployments and perform regular testing.
• May participate in development activities as needed. What We're Looking For
• Experience with enterprise Java technologies and back-end development.
• Ability to collaborate with Front-End Developers to extend CMS components.
• Experience integrating with university systems and external third-party applications.
• Strong QA mindset: reading logs, running tests, and troubleshooting issues.
• Ability to participate in project planning and provide estimates.
• Familiarity with technical design specifications and documentation.
• Experience developing user guides and training materials.
• Comfort with scripting, test environments, and deployment processes.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team. Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: 55,000-60,000 per year.
