Desktop Publisher

OVERVIEW

The position of Desktop Publisher is a key player at TransPerfect and is responsible for all the DTP and localization of print-ready foreign language documents. The ideal candidate for this position is an individual who has strong production and computer skills that are balanced with experience in type, composition and document layout.

DESCRIPTION

• Desktop publish on Macintosh and PC platforms

• Coordinate projects with other departments

• Interchange languages between electronic files in multiple DTP formats and make foreign language documents look more visually exact to source language documents

• Be responsible for learning new DTP formats and procedures

• Develop a thorough understanding of leading, tracking, kerning and fonts

• Provide technical support as needed including but not limited to, file format problems, troubleshooting, scanning and image resolution

• Communicate any issues or problems to related departments, as that information is available

• Manage pre-flight, printing and pre-press processes; supervising typesetting of corporate materials

• Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for the role and assigned by the manager/supervisor

Requirements

• REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and other applications on a MAC/PC

• Must possess a strong attention to detail

• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to maintain professionalism in all situations under tight deadlines

• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills in English

• Work well with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures, build relationships with co-workers, work as part of a team, and commit to a high level of service

• Must be willing to learn new skills, be open to challenges and thrive on success

• REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent

• DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Prior experience working with layouts

• Fluency in a foreign language

• Strong Adobe Creative Suite/MS Office/computer skills
