About the Role The Designer works on the layout and detailing of mechanical components for hydro generators at ANDRITZ Canada's Peterborough Generator Center. You will create 3D models and 2D drawings, develop parts lists, and ensure designs meet project specifications while collaborating with local and external teams. Occasional travel to project sites and customer locations is required.
What You'll Do
- Create technical 3D models and associated 2D drawings of components from source information (layouts, schematics, standards, sketches, instructions).
- Develop detailed parts lists for components.
- Verify drawings and bill of materials for quality and conformance to customer specs and internal standards.
- Direct or assist others, review work on specific projects, and collaborate with project teams, manufacturing, and installation.
- Coordinate with local engineering and drafting teams and external specialists as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Mechanical Technician diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years’ experience in mechanical detailed design for hydro applications preferred.
- Prior experience with 3D CAD software; Unigraphics NX experience preferred.
- Self-starter who can work well in a team; results-oriented with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word).
- High sense of urgency and strong customer focus.
- Authorization to work in Canada (legal status required).
- Availability for occasional travel to customer sites, project locations or other Andritz offices.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Unigraphics NX is preferred.
- Familiarity with hydro generator components and industry standards.
- Hybrid work mode is supported.
