About this role

Job title: Design Manager

About the Role

Design Manager to shape the future across IT Services within Service Collection and extend that across the Atlassian suite. You’ll lead a design team spanning India and Australia, partnering with Product, Engineering, Research, and Content Design to deliver AI-enabled experiences for help seekers and service agents.

What You'll Do

  • Set a clear design vision for IT Services within Service Collection and translate it into shipable work.

  • Partner with leadership and partner teams to shape AI features across Rovo and Jira Service Management, from helpseeker experiences to agent workflows.

  • Collaborate with Designers, Engineers, Product Managers, Content Designers, Researchers, Marketers, and Analysts to ship thoughtful, high quality work.

  • Recruit, mentor, and grow a diverse design team across geographies, with a high bar for craft.

  • Build inclusive rituals and strong written communication habits so the team can do their best work, wherever they are.

  • Lead the way as your team adopts AI in daily practice. Bring new tools into the workflow, change how the team researches, prototypes, and ships, and coach designers as the practice evolves.

  • Drive multiple initiatives from idea to launch, with clear ownership of the customer outcomes and business impact they deliver.

  • Communicate design plans clearly and persuasively to teammates, peers, and senior leadership.

  • What We're Looking For

  • Five plus years managing designers, leading the work itself, shaping quality, and coaching designers through hard product problems.

  • Strong craft sensibility. A design leader first, people manager second.

  • Personal experience leading the shift to AI, with knowledge of the tools and ability to drive change.

  • Genuine curiosity for AI and how it changes design; comfortable with speed, ambiguity, and constant learning.

  • Experience leading platform or complex conceptual work, ideally in SaaS or enterprise software.

  • Experience managing teams across geographies; capable of asynchronous collaboration.

  • Ability to ship in ambiguity and run several large projects in parallel.

  • Strong written and verbal communicator who can influence senior leadership, product and engineering partners, and distributed teams.

  • A product designer at heart who is still hands-on and knows what it takes to ship great work.

  • Ideally:

  • Led a multi-craft project delivering measurable user improvements.

  • Led product or content designers across multiple concurrent streams.

  • Seen content as a powerful, essential part of the customer journey.

  • Enterprise SaaS background; actively learning with AI tools and evolving practices.

  • Nice to Have

  • See items above in the Ideal section; additional preferences can include enterprise SaaS experience and ongoing AI tool adoption.

  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Atlassian offers a competitive compensation program and equitable, explainable salary structures; base pay within a defined range.

  • This role may be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

  • Health and wellbeing resources, paid volunteer days, and additional perks are available.
