About this role

Job title: Design Lead

About the Role This is a leadership role guiding the team and projects through design development, permitting, construction documentation, detailing, and production. You will coordinate and maintain lasting relationships with staff, vendors, consultants, builders, and local regulatory officials to deliver a stellar prefabricated home.

What You'll Do

  • Interpret 3D schematic design models from SketchUp and convert them into Revit models to produce Design Development Drawings and Construction Documents.
  • Create, coordinate, and manage Revit models for complex residential projects for permitting, fabrication, and construction, with a keen understanding of the construction process, specifications, and applicable building codes.
  • Produce complete sets of Construction Documents; review BIMs, DDs, CDs, and shop/panel drawings to ensure conformance to specifications, standards, building codes, and design intent.
  • Coordinate with engineers, local regulatory officials, consultants, and builders to ensure client needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Produce, analyze, and advise on detailed specifications for suitable materials, products, and means and methods; create and oversee details and Revit families to expand an existing detail library, along with templates and standards.
  • Research building codes, construction techniques, materials, industry standards, and local regulations.
  • Visit construction sites across the U.S. and Canada to ensure that architectural specifications are properly followed (initial assembly, framing, and window/door inspections).
  • Participate in a collaborative studio culture, challenging the status quo and acting as a change agent for continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • Extensive knowledge of single-family residential wood-frame construction.
  • A degree in Architecture.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience creating DDs and CDs.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Revit.
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution.
  • Experience supervising staff and coordinating consultants (valued).
  • A strong design vocabulary; literacy with SketchUp; fluency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with prefab building systems and off-site construction methods (valued).
  • Detail-oriented, organized, creative, and innovative thinker with good communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and collaborate on creative solutions; capable of working independently and multi-tasking across a portfolio of projects.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with prefab building systems and off-site construction methods.
  • Additional experience coordinating diverse teams and managing workflows.
  • Familiarity with developing and maintaining design libraries, templates, and standards.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Company subsidized health insurance coverage.
  • 401k plan with employer matching.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • Potential for hybrid working arrangement.
