About the Role Design Lead - Embedded Firmware based in Waller, Texas, United States. You will provide advanced engineering solutions to support our Electrics & Controls teams, bridging the Advanced/Innovation, Thermodynamics, and Application & Equipment Control groups to develop and implement cutting-edge control strategies. What You'll Do
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams to understand business objectives and integrate design thinking into embedded firmware development, ensuring alignment with product specifications.
- Lead a team of firmware designers, providing technical guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality embedded firmware solutions that meet project requirements and timelines.
- Present firmware design concepts and strategies to stakeholders, facilitating discussions to gather feedback and iterate on design improvements.
- Establish and maintain embedded firmware design standards, guidelines, and best practices to promote consistency, reliability, and performance across projects.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in embedded systems and firmware development to drive innovation and enhance design practices.
- Design and implement control algorithms and features using both basic state charts and advanced techniques such as Modified PI controllers, Feedforward controllers, Model Predictive Control and System Identification; implement in firmware using MATLAB / Simulink / Stateflow; conduct simulations and validation tests.
- Support control integration into products and rapid prototyping platforms; analyze field test data and fine-tune algorithms to improve system performance.
- Contribute to validation of the control roadmap within the overall business strategy. What We're Looking For
- Education: Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s with relevant experience) in Automation, Mechatronics, or Electronics Engineering.
- Profile: Motivated to pursue a technical career path and grow as an expert in control engineering.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of automation and control technologies and systems; experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow; proficiency in Embedded Firmware Design using C/C++ and familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Additional: Strong understanding of hardware-software integration and debugging techniques for embedded systems; familiarity with scripting languages.
