About the Role Join Johnson Controls' federal team as a Design Engineer supporting our Electronic Security System (ESS) engineering group in Huntsville, AL. You will work across the full project lifecycle, with a focus on pre-sales engineering tasks for U.S. military and federal government facilities nationwide and overseas. What You'll Do
- Perform pre-design site surveys and develop system concepts
- Design system shop drawings and submittals
- Generate product literature submittals and cost estimates
- Provide sales support and help develop scopes of work
- Produce project documentation such as as-built drawings and operation/maintenance manuals
- Collaborate with JCFS teams on security system modernization projects for federal facilities
- Travel as needed (up to 20-25%) What We're Looking For
- Experience in design engineering for electronic security or related systems
- Ability to perform pre-design site surveys and develop shop drawings/submittals
- Experience with cost estimating, sales support, and generating scopes of work
- Ability to generate and manage project documentation (as-built drawings, manuals)
- Willingness to work onsite in Huntsville, AL and travel up to 25%
- Comfortable working on federal government projects and with national defense facilities Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000 - $110,000 per year, plus bonus; negotiable based on experience

- Vacation/holidays: 3 weeks vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks total)
