Job title: Design Engineer I – Electrical/Plumbing Development (P&E)

About the Role The Design Engineer I works on a cross-functional team to innovate and bring new electrical/plumbing development concepts from conception to production, designing, testing, and refining solutions for Milwaukee Tool's batteries, motors, and electronics.

What You'll Do

• Perform a wide variety of calculations and software-aided analyses: mechanical stress, material and heat treatment selection, tolerance and fit analyses, lubrication, gear design, statics and dynamics, noise and vibration, and other machine-element design.
• Evaluate product designs for material selection, cost, and reliability.
• Conduct field research with plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians and other professional users.
• Develop a manufacturing mindset to enable mass production of power tools; troubleshoot with manufacturing teams and suppliers.
• Communicate with manufacturing and global cross-functional teams to track project schedules; interact with suppliers for component selection and specifications.
• Schedule, facilitate, and document technical meetings and presentations; independently develop test requests with Milwaukee Tool Test Laboratory.
• Learn Milwaukee Tool’s development and manufacturing processes.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in GD&T and CAD.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on attitude.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to learn skills outside the primary discipline.
• Ability to travel 10% (domestic and international).

• 1+ year of design experience in a related industry.
• Electro-mechanical exposure.
