Job title: Design Engineer - Drives & Actuator Systems
About the Role Join Brose as a Design Engineer focusing on the Drives product area, responsible for robust, cost-effective, and compliant designs for automotive drives and actuators. You will translate customer and internal requirements into 3D/2D concepts, perform calculations, collaborate with suppliers and product groups, and contribute to Design FMEAs and verification activities.
What You'll Do
- Assure robust, cost-effective, and quality designs in time for the Drives product area
- Ensure compliance to specifications according to internal and external guidelines
- Liaise with Product groups in Headquarters to understand specific design requests
- Independently create design concepts (3D & 2D layouts) to meet customer/internal product demands in line with Brose design guidelines
- Execute basic technical calculations (e.g., GD&T, Stack-up) and simulations (deformation, loading, kinematics)
- Initiate more complex calculations with specialists (e.g., FEA, Mold flow) and interpretation of results with specialists
- Interact with suppliers to create prototypes to verify new design concepts
- Define/dictate Test & Measurement methods to verify the prototypes from the supplier
- Collaborate on creation and enhancement of Design FMEAs
- Possess good understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods for Automotive Drives & Actuator systems
- Possess broad knowledge about materials used for Drives & Actuator systems and its components (e.g., Plastic, Sheet metal, Aluminium Die-cast)
- Drive continuous improvement by documenting results (customer feedback, benchmarking, fair intel, series production learnings) and ensure implementation in future developments
What We're Looking For
- 3-7 years experience in Design and development of Drives/Actuator systems
- Experience in Automotive Industry preferred
- Proficient in CATIA-V5, EV6
- Proficient in GD&T, Stack-up calculation
- Experience in Designing Thermal & Powertrain systems (Climate Compressor, Turbocharger, Oil/Coolant Pumps, HVAC)
- Proficient in DFMEA, Problem solving techniques
- Knowledge concerning standards in automotive development processes
Nice to Have
- Experience designing Scroll compressors, Impellers, Gerotors is highly advantageous
