Description Manager, Development Engineer

About the Role The Description Manager, Development Engineer is a key resource for coordinating and executing development programs related to new processes, new equipment, or new product design features. The role ensures alignment with the company technology roadmap and supports qualification and release of technologies to high-volume manufacturing at Skyworks' Mexicali facility. What You'll Do

• Administer and manage the tactical activities of development programs or projects, utilizing available engineering resources and procuring production resources to drive delivery of milestones.
• Own the complete qualification, transfer, and integration into high-volume manufacturing for new technology projects (process/equipment/raw material or a combination), meeting established timelines.
• Characterize the defined success criteria by analyzing input/output process variables and product features, validating alignment with best-known practices for high-volume manufacturing, and developing alternate controls to minimize disruption when adopting new elements.
• Lead procurement specification creation for new equipment related to new technology; collaborate with process, equipment, operations, industrial engineering, quality, information technologies, and purchasing to meet functional, operational, and safety requirements for the first-time buy.
• Establish direct technical communication with raw material suppliers to drive processing or quality improvements, and with equipment manufacturers to procure design modifications or fabricate new tooling for processing new form factors associated with new product introductions.
• Drive evaluation and definition of process capabilities; collaborate with Irvine packaging function to develop test vehicles and conduct experiments to establish new design rules required by the technology roadmap.
• Serve as Technical Lead for identifying and resolving manufacturing or quality problems potentially impacting processes or products, facilitating corrective actions and deployment of best-known practices.
• Interact with multidisciplinary functions internally (Quality, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Materials, Product Engineering, Program Management) and externally (Packaging) during New Product Realization processes (Prototyping & NPI) and ongoing operations.
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of manufacturing processes in support of the company technology roadmap and successful scale-up to high-volume production at the Mexicali site. What We're Looking For
• Experience coordinating and executing development programs/projects related to new processes, new equipment, or new product design features, with a track record of aligning with a technology roadmap.
• Demonstrated ownership of qualification, transfer, and integration into high-volume manufacturing, with the ability to meet or exceed timelines.
• Strong analytical skills: characterize performance of input/output variables and validate alignment with best practices; develop alternate controls as needed.
• Proven ability to create procurement specifications for new equipment and work cross-functionally with Process, Equipment, Operations, IE, Quality, IT, and Purchasing to ensure safety and operational requirements.
• Effective communication with raw material suppliers and equipment manufacturers to drive improvements and to implement design modifications.
• Experience evaluating process capabilities and developing test vehicles; comfortable conducting experiments to establish new manufacturing rules.
• Technical leadership in identifying and resolving manufacturing or quality problems and driving corrective actions.
• Excellent collaboration skills across Packaging, Product Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Maintenance, Manufacturing, and Materials to support NPI and ongoing manufacturing.
