About the Role
Clark County Sheriff's Office is a full-service agency with opportunities in law enforcement for deputies of all experience levels. The role emphasizes community policing and requires strong facilitation, problem solving, active listening, motivation and leadership to engage citizens and businesses in shaping policing services.
What You'll Do
- Patrol assigned areas and conduct investigations & interrogate witnesses/suspects
- Respond to radio calls and serve civil papers and warrants
- Control disturbances and restrain individuals using safe methods
- Communicate ideas and information to group meetings; provide crime prevention resources
- Develop public relations with civil groups, schools, businesses, and neighborhood organizations; collaborate with other law enforcement agencies
- After 2–3 years of patrol experience, apply for special assignments in SWAT, Traffic, Narcotics, Detectives, K-9, Marine Patrol, UAS, Child Abuse, School Resource Deputy, Hostage Negotiation, Bomb Technician, Computer Forensics
- After 12 months in a specialty unit, eligible for 5% special assignment pay
- Participate in Skillbridge program and training path toward becoming a certified WA law enforcement officer
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED; US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
- Valid driver's license; ability to read/write English
- No felony or domestic violence convictions and/or recent/excessive drug usage
- Ability to meet the essential mental, verbal, visual and physical demands of the position
- Knowledge of the geographic area and basics of crime prevention and rehabilitation
- Ability to learn laws of arrest, search and seizure and rules of evidence; quick decision making under danger; safe handling of firearms; use of technology; and effective communication
- Any combination of work experience and education that demonstrates capability
- Entry level officers receive a $10,000 signing bonus

- Education incentive pay: Associate’s degree (2%), Bachelor’s degree (4%), Master’s degree (6%)
Compensation & Benefits
- $10,000 signing bonus for entry level officers; ongoing education incentives as noted
- 5% special assignment pay after 12 months in an approved specialty unit
- $5.00 per pay period for legal defense fund insurance
