About the Role Deputy Editor (Physical Chemistry) for Advanced Science. This role involves editorial evaluation and decision-making for submitted manuscripts, representation of Wiley’s physical sciences portfolio, and leadership in strategic initiatives to broaden the reach and impact of the journal and related portfolios.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives to grow Wiley's Advanced Portfolio within the physical chemistry community globally.
- Leverage your network and desk research skills to commission high-quality papers and build relationships with leading researchers.
- Represent Wiley and the physical sciences portfolio at conferences and through in-person and virtual outreach at universities and research institutes.
- Collaborate with the global editorial team to develop the journal portfolio and manage manuscripts from related subject areas for Advanced Science.
- Contribute to editorial evaluation, peer review, and decision-making for manuscripts submitted to one or more journals.
- Foster a team culture of trust, respect, and high performance; uphold the highest ethical standards in publishing.
What We're Looking For
- A PhD in Chemistry or related fields (Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering) with a strong research background.
- 2+ years of post-PhD experience (post-doctoral, academic, publishing).
- International experience desirable.
- Subject matter expertise in physical chemistry with a focus on energy, catalysis, or surface science.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; innovative and outcome-focused.
- Ability to work collaboratively and influence outcomes.
- Self-motivated, diplomatic, flexible with excellent organizational and time-management skills; strong English proficiency.
- Keen interest in science and science communication; advocate for innovations in publishing and Open Research.
- Confidence to present and represent the journal at conferences and institute visits; willingness to travel; ability to develop networks.
- Ability to identify opportunities and translate strategic visions into actionable plans.
- Strong understanding of scientific publishing, including commissioning and peer-review; Open Access workflows familiarity desirable.

- Prior experience in publishing, editorial roles, or science communication.
- Familiarity with Open Access workflows and Open Research.
