About the Role John Wiley & Sons, Inc. seeks a Deputy Editor for Advanced Energy Materials and Advanced Theory and Simulations, within the prestigious Advanced Materials portfolio. Based in Noida or Pune with hybrid work, the role focuses on strategic development, outreach, and editorial operations to elevate these journals' profile and content quality.
What You'll Do
- Strategically develop one or more journals with the Editor-in-Chief within the broader physical sciences portfolio.
- Establish and maintain a strong network of scientists who are authors, peer reviewers, and board members.
- Leverage your subject knowledge to drive content acquisition and submissions growth through desk research.
- Represent Wiley and the physical sciences portfolio at conferences and through outreach activities at universities and research institutes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to develop the journal portfolio.
- Contribute to editorial evaluation, peer review, and manuscript decision‑making.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards and best practices in scholarly publishing.
- Foster a team culture of trust, respect, and high performance.
- Oversee the peer review process and editorial decisions.
What We're Looking For
- PhD in materials science, physics or chemistry with a background in energy materials research.
- 2+ years of post‑PhD experience (post‑doctoral, industrial, academic, publishing, or international experience).
- Experience in theoretical or computational research is a strong advantage.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a flexible and innovative approach to problems and outcomes.
- Ability to work in a collaborative setting and influence results.
- Self‑motivated, diplomatic, and flexible with outstanding organizational, efficiency, and time management skills; excellent English (written and verbal).
- Strong understanding of scientific publishing, including commissioning and the peer‑review process; prior publishing, editorial, or science communication experience is welcome.
- Keen interest in science and science communication with a desire to advocate for innovations in publishing and open research.
- Confidence to present and represent the journal portfolio at conferences and institute visits; willingness to travel.
Nice to Have
- Experience in energy materials research and/or publishing is advantageous.
