About this role

The Dental Team Manager manages the Dental Program on one of the Mercy Ships vessels. The main function of this position is to lead the Dental Team and provide administrative, clinical, and spiritual support. Collaborating with and helping the whole Dental Team, the Dental Team Manager oversees the dental team’s patient flow, organization, and more!

What you will contribute

  • Coordinate the daily operations of the Dental Clinic, including patient flow, organization of the clinic, and management of Dental Team members rotating in and out of the team, including Day Crew
  • Effectively collaborate with the Dental Coordinator for excellence and cohesiveness in the Dental Team
  • Collaborate with Hospital departments on the vessels to ensure safe, timely, and efficient dental care to all Hospital patients and caregivers
  • Facilitate weekly meetings for communication, discussion, and prayer with the Dental Team to promote a positive and productive work environment
  • Manage correspondence related to dental supply procurement and volunteer recruitment in a timely manner
  • Provide or facilitate dental treatment to long-term crew and Programs patients; provide emergency care for short-term crew
  • Welcome and orientate new Dental Crew and Day Crew into their roles

For This Role, You Will Need

  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding program
  • Supportive of Mercy Ships mission and vision and committed to its core values
  • Two or more years’ experience working as a Dental professional
  • Active Dental License or Dental Hygienist license
  • Understanding of servant leadership; able to work collaboratively with integrity and demonstrate accountability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications
  • Able to be a self-starter, detail-oriented and accurate, with excellent organizational goals
  • Conversational French ability is preferred/helpful
  • Ability to drive a standard gear shift vehicle in Africa is beneficial, but not required
