We're looking for a friendly and organised Casual Dental Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our practice. Located in the heart of Smithfield Shopping Centre, 1300SMILES Smithfield is a busy, family-focused practice providing general, restorative and orthodontic care to patients across Cairns' northern beaches.
Job Description
This is a front desk role, and you'll be the first point of contact for our patients by phone, online and in person. It suits an experienced dental receptionist who keeps the appointment book running smoothly and makes every patient feel looked after.
Working closely with our dentists, Practice Manager and front office team, you'll help create a great experience for every patient and support the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice.
What your days look like:
You'll keep the appointment book running smoothly, look after payments and health fund claims, and make sure every patient feels welcome from the moment they arrive. Being in a shopping centre, walk-in enquiries are part of the day too.
As a casual, you'll be offered shifts across our opening hours, so we're looking for someone who is generally available Monday to Saturday 8am to 5:30 and late night Thursdays.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcome patients and create a warm, professional first impression.
- Manage phone calls, emails, and patient enquiries.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments efficiently.
- Process payments and maintain accurate patient records.
- Support the clinical team to ensure a seamless patient journey.
- Assist with general administrative and reception duties.
Qualifications

To succeed in the role, you will bring:

Previous experience in dental or medical reception

Experience using dental practice management software (Dental4Windows, Exact, or similar).

Accuracy with payments, item numbers and patient records

A warm, welcoming manner that puts patients at ease

Clear and professional communication with patients and the team

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

A willingness to learn new systems and develop your skills across the practice
