About the Role The Arora Group is recruiting a part-time Dental Hygienist to join the Dental Clinic at Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River in Patuxent River, Maryland. The Hygienist will provide dental care to active duty military members with a Monday–Friday schedule, featuring 8-hour shifts between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. What You'll Do
- Examine patient's oral cavity, throat, and surrounding tissues; record conditions of teeth and tissues.
- Refer patients with abnormalities to the dentist (cavities, defective fillings, suspicious growths, periodontal disease).
- Apply desensitizing and other topical agents; support caries prevention, gingivitis management, and oral ulceration treatment as needed.
- Instruct patients, individually and in groups, in proper oral hygiene using models, displays, slides, toothbrushes, dental floss, disclosing tablets, and mirrors; demonstrate brushing, flossing, and use of periodontal aids.
- Explain the common causes of tooth decay and its relationship to diet.
- Take impressions and construct sports/safety mouth guards and soft night guards for vital bleaching.
- Polish restorations and apply pit and fissure sealants.
- Chair-side dental assisting when directed by the Officer-In-Charge of the dental clinic.
- Record patients treated; check and maintain instruments to ensure working condition; clean, sharpen, and sterilize instruments.
- Manage patient workload, readiness, and scheduling; utilize the Corporate Dental Application to enter workload/ readiness status and for scheduling. What We're Looking For
- Degree: Associate degree or Bachelor degree depending on the program.
- Education: Successful completion of a dental hygiene program accredited by CODA of the American Dental Association (ADA).
- Certification: Radiography certification as required by 42 CFR Part 75.
- Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions.
- License: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Dental Hygienist. Compensation & Benefits
