Join our Manchester team as an Apprentice Civil Engineer and gain hands-on experience working alongside a team of Civil Engineers with a range of experience. You’ll support a variety of exciting projects, including active travel and bus fund schemes, local authority projects, and design and build work with contractors.
Key Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Civil Engineer, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers, you’ll develop drawings and models for civil infrastructure projects while building your technical skills and industry knowledge. With a structured approach to professional development and on-the-job experience at the heart of your training, this is a great opportunity to start your career in civil engineering and work towards becoming a professional engineer.

Working in a collaborative environment will help you build your understanding of civil engineering design, contribute to multidisciplinary projects and develop your technical skills through real project experience.
Day to day you’ll be:

Producing engineering drawings and figures to support projects and technical reports.

Contributing to technical reports and engineering notes.

Undertaking elements of highway, utilities and drainage design.

Supporting infrastructure projects through different stages of design and delivery.

Working alongside engineers, technicians and other professionals across multidisciplinary project teams.

Developing your technical knowledge and practical civil engineering skills through hands-on project experience.

Building relationships with colleagues and learning from experienced professionals.

Earn while you learn. Whichever apprenticeship route you take, your tuition and qualification fees are on us. You will work towards a Level 6 Civil Engineering degree in conjunction with one of our Training Providers. Your training provider and study arrangement will be discussed further during the recruitment process.

About you:

Qualifications
For our Level 6 apprenticeship you will need to achieve a minimum of 112 UCAS points, from one of the following:

A level: BBC (excluding General Studies). You must have Mathematics at grade B or above and one other analytical science subject at grade B or above. Analytical science subjects can include Physics, Biology/Human Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Further Mathematics and Design and Technology.

BTEC (Level 3) Extended Diploma: DMM . This must include a Merit or above in Mathematics and Further Mathematics in Construction Units. Accepted courses: Civil Engineering, Aerospace, Construction and the Built Environment and Mechanical Engineering.

Coventry: you must have DDM.

Scottish Highers
-
Four SQA Highers at A, B, B, B, including Mathematics. Higher Applications of Mathematics is not accepted.

Irish Highers
-
H3, H3, H3, H3, H3, H4, with at least H3 in Mathematics and one other Analytical Science subject.

International Baccalaureate
-
32/655, including HL5 in Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches) and HL5 in another Science subject, including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Physics or Environmental Systems and Societies.

Other equivalent qualifications may be considered.
You must also have:
- GCSEs: 5 GCSEs (or recognised equivalent), with a grade 5-6 (B) or above in Mathematics and English Language. Functional
Skills

Level 2 in English and Mathematics are also accepted.
