DC Inventory & Asset Technician Manager

Microsoft is seeking a DC Inventory & Asset Technician Manager (DIAM) in Santa Clara, California. You will lead a team of Inventory & Asset Management technicians responsible for inbound and outbound logistics tasks, inventory cycle audits, and Data Center regulatory compliance activities. You will guide your team to effectively run warranty processes and data bearing device destruction, model leadership principles, drive accurate and efficient IAM task execution, and manage escalations with stakeholders as they arise. This role supports Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Azure platform. Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations and ensure inbound and outbound processes run smoothly and effectively.
• Empower and hold the team accountable by modeling, coaching, and fostering a positive and productive culture.
• Assess resource and workflow patterns to determine necessary changes in work assignments to meet timelines.
• Plan, manage, and communicate end-to-end project plans with applicable stakeholders and teams.
• Ensure issues are documented, tracked, discussed, and resolved with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers, maintaining consistent and complete communication.
• Coordinate and oversee relationships with third-party vendors performing data-bearing device (DBD) destruction, ensuring all DBDs leaving premises do not contain customer information and are properly destroyed.
• Comply with established methodologies to ensure delivery and execution of contracts and purchase orders.
• Process price and procurement requests from Microsoft management to support server, network, SAN, and spare requirements.
• Provide thought leadership on established methodologies and monitor outcomes.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert and model compliance for junior team members.
• Conduct or assist in daily safety briefings and complete required safety training, guiding technicians on safety procedures (PPE usage, rack movement, heavy equipment usage, lifting, ladder/rolling stair use).
• Seek opportunities to contribute to workstreams and evolve processes, services, and solutions toward greater simplification and automation.

Requirements

• Required: High School Diploma and 3 years of experience in warehouse/supply chain within an IT environment, logistics, supply chain, inventory management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based restrictions for government customers; citizenship will be verified via a valid passport.

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check conducted at hire/transfer and every two years thereafter, plus citizenship verification.

• Location: Santa Clara, California.

• Preferred Qualifications (not required but desired)

• 5+ years of experience in warehouse/supply chain within IT or logistics, including operating heavy-load movement equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts) for a large corporation, or equivalent.

• 1+ year of project management experience.

• Certification in APICS/ASCM, IAITAM, Inventory Control, or equivalent.
