Job title: Data Scientist
About the Role Data Scientist at UCSF responsible for developing and utilizing computational tools to analyze and interpret biological or research data. This role involves creating algorithms, applying standard statistical methodologies, designing experiments, and leading the execution of machine learning and statistical models. You will implement end-user needs in database development, maintenance, searching, and integration, and maintain computational infrastructure for large-scale studies. You will also provide bioinformatics and access to public and proprietary databases, and manage cloud and on-premises infrastructure and data.
What You'll Do
- Develop and utilize computational tools and systems to analyze and interpret biological or research data.
- Develop algorithms, computational techniques, and standard statistical methodologies; lead the execution of machine learning and statistical models.
- Implement end-user needs in database development, maintenance, searching, and integration.
- Maintain computational infrastructure and manage the flow of samples and information for large-scale studies.
- Provide bioinformatics and access to public and proprietary databases.
- Manage cloud and on-premises computational infrastructure and data.
What We're Looking For
- Professional who applies acquired skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments or projects of moderate scope and complexity; exercises judgment within defined guidelines.
- Interest or experience at the intersection of cardiovascular disease and human genetics; willingness to employ deep phenotyping and deep learning techniques.
- Ability to design experiments and lead the execution of building machine learning and statistical models, and to support end-user needs in data management.
Nice to Have
- Experience with deep learning techniques and deep phenotyping.
