About this role

About the Role The Data Scientist at Kia America will join Kia North America’s Big Data Analysis team to execute data analysis across regional subsidiaries. The role leverages statistics, machine learning, and software engineering to perform reproducible analyses at scale and translate results into actionable insights for business decisions. What You'll Do

  • 1st Priority - 30%: Business Problem Framing, Data Wrangling & Analysis: Assess the accuracy of new data sources; translate business processes into data-driven metrics and KPIs; preprocess structured and unstructured data; analyze large data sets to discover trends and patterns; build prediction and classification models; coordinate with cross-functional teams for feature engineering; frame business questions into analytical approaches.
  • 2nd Priority - 30%: Insight Generation, Visualization & Model Improvement: Test and continuously improve the accuracy of statistical and machine learning models; present insights in business terms; frame analyses for non-technical stakeholders; monitor production analysis results.
  • 3rd Priority - 20%: Collaborate with IT Team to deploy analysis results: Build REST APIs for data and analysis result consumption; assist IT system developers to deploy analysis as a service.
  • 4th Priority - 20%: Clear documentation, source code management, and reproducible analysis: Use git within GitLab; create virtual environments; track model performance, hyperparameters, and data versioning. What We're Looking For
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of data science experience; strong data analysis and statistical foundations.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with applied machine learning concepts.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to coordinate between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience querying databases and using Python/SQL; experience with statistics and ML algorithms.
  • Experience with big data processing frameworks such as Spark (PySpark); Hadoop ecosystem or cloud platforms (Databricks, AWS) preferred.
  • Experience publishing results to dashboards (Power BI, MicroStrategy, Tableau). Nice to Have
  • Deep learning knowledge (PyTorch, TensorFlow) preferred.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques.
  • Experience with Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Bokeh, and plotnine.
  • Experience with ML libraries such as statsmodels and scikit-learn.
  • Experience with big data tools like Spark; Hadoop ecosystem or cloud platforms.
  • Strong data-driven problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication across teams. Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay Range: $89,936 - $121,409 per year. Pay will be based on several variables including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and education.
