About this role
Job title: Data Scientist, AI Enabled Analytics - Procurement
About the Role As a Data Scientist, AI Enabled Analytics - Procurement at Gilead, you will partner with data science, engineering and procurement teams to build and deploy AI-enabled analytics that drive cost savings, supplier performance insights, and risk management across procurement processes. You will own the end-to-end delivery of analytics that are production-ready, scalable, and embedded into procurement workflows to support real-time decision making.
What You'll Do
- Partner closely with data science, engineering, and platform teams to operationalize analytics and AI solutions end-to-end, ensuring they are production-ready, scalable, and fully integrated into user experiences.
- Translate complex business questions into structured analytical problems, producing clear, actionable insights and recommendations for stakeholders at all levels.
- Develop compelling visualizations and data-driven narratives to communicate insights effectively to operational and executive audiences; design, build, and deploy advanced analytics, statistical models, and machine learning solutions to analyze spend, forecast demand, and evaluate supplier performance and risk.
- Apply data science methodologies to drive cost savings, mitigate supply and continuity risks, and ensure contract and policy compliance.
- Leverage SQL and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to analyze procurement data and deliver scalable, high-value insights; build, automate, and maintain robust data pipelines and analytical workflows using orchestration tools such as Airflow and Alteryx.
- Integrate analytics and AI insights into core procurement platforms (e.g., SAP Ariba) to enable real-time, workflow-embedded decision support; ensure data quality, consistency, governance, and integrity across multiple procurement systems and data sources.
- Own and scale AI-enabled analytics solutions, including predictive forecasting and optimization models, intelligent recommendations embedded within buying and procurement workflows, and automation/AI agents that execute or recommend actions in real time.
- Drive adoption by embedding insights directly into decision workflows rather than relying on static reports or dashboards.
- Measure, track, and communicate business impact of analytics and AI initiatives, including efficiency gains, cost savings, risk reduction, and improved user and supplier experience.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across Procurement and Data & Analytics, contributing to team capability development through tools, standards, and training.
