Data Center Technician

As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a data center environment. This role sits within CBRE’s Critical and Technical Services function, responsible for delivering technical maintenance services in mission-critical client environments.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with daily site inspections of all mechanical and engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.

• Ensure the site’s environmental conditions provide a safe working environment.

• Respond to Building Management System alarms and complete emergency repairs as needed.

• Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company processes, procedures, and regulations.

• Alert management if subcontractor performance does not meet requirements under the Master Service Agreement.

• Complete planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on all equipment.

• Monitor BMS systems and respond to HVAC/cooling-related issues.

• Conduct building walkthroughs and take meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities.

• Troubleshoot and resolve facility and plant faults and defects.

• Follow established processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and perform routine quality checks.

• Complete all required training to support successful job performance.

• Work under close supervision, following clearly defined tasks, processes, and responsibilities.

• What You’ll Need

• Technical training in a relevant discipline (apprenticeship or equivalent) with 1–2 years of experience.

• Mechanical / Cooling (HVAC) competence is required.

• Ability to work shift patterns, including weekends and holidays.

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.

• Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues, clients, and management.

• Ability to follow structured routines and procedures.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.

• Basic math skills (percentages, simple calculations, etc.)
