Job title: Data Center Services Engineer
About the Role We are seeking a dynamic Data Center Services Engineer who can apply in-depth knowledge of complex on-premises, hybrid, and cloud infrastructure to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. The role reports to the Director IT Global Operations Infrastructure in Durham, NC, and operates in a hybrid work environment. You will collaborate with global teams, service delivery partners, and the Data Center Operations Infra team to define standards and drive technology innovation.
What You'll Do
- Define, document, and enforce system standards and Global Infra Design with diagrams and Site Decision Matrices to guide new site solutions.
- Advise on future technology changes that present opportunities for a product and help optimize Wolfspeed’s technology costs.
- Define, develop, and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable Infra services that meet ongoing and evolving business requirements; support end-to-end delivery and ensure operations staff follow Wolfspeed standards and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance for Operations delivery staff; monitor resource utilization, performance, and capacity; mitigate potential issues.
- Collaborate with team engineers to design, implement servers, storage, containers, and network solutions; mentor team members on technical issues.
- Ensure the environment is monitored for resource utilization and performance; report findings and propose mitigation plans.
- Monitor service delivery activities, perform analysis, escalate as needed, and drive to resolution.
- Develop and maintain complete technical documentation; communicate with users when needed.
- Participate in the Architectural Review Board to validate designs across technology areas; contribute within the Data Center Operations team and with partner engineers; mentor junior staff.
- Leverage deep knowledge of on-premises, hybrid and cloud networking and security infrastructure, specifically Dell, VMware, NetApp, Containers, and Cisco data center networking.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of professional infrastructure experience with Dell, VMware, NetApp, RHEL, Cloud, Containers, Clustering, LAN, WAN, Data Center lifecycle, and remote access technologies.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work with business stakeholders to define requirements for small projects; experience with cloud/network architecture, scripting, and writing protocols.
- Comfortable with computing frameworks, hybrid cloud, and communications; experience with scalability, HA failover, and resiliency.
- Strong architecture delivery skills and cloud device configuration experience.
- Ability to work non-standard business hours as needed.
