Data Architect III

Data Architect III develops and leads enterprise data strategies and governance initiatives, architects and tests new database systems, and oversees complex data integration projects, ensuring adherence to data standards and strategic alignment.

Responsibilities

• Develops enterprise and platform-specific data strategies in alignment with platform blueprints by analyzing business requirements and proposing data solutions
• Advances data governance initiatives and ensures compliance with data standards by coordinating with governance committees and implementing best practices
• Architects and tests prototypes for new database management systems and related tools by designing, coding, and conducting performance tests
• Champions the adoption of new database management system functionality and tools within the team by organizing workshops and providing hands-on support
• Oversees metadata management and supports the creation of logical data architecture for technology platforms by defining metadata standards and ensuring their implementation
• Ensures data architecture meets enterprise data governance standards by participating in design reviews and providing strategic recommendations
• Selects and integrates data management tools and technologies by conducting market research and presenting findings to stakeholders
• Conducts complex data integration projects by coordinating with different teams, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining data integrity throughout the process
• Collaborates and co-creates effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectives

Qualifications

Education Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, and/or comparable experience; advanced degree preferred
• Knowledge of developing data architecture for applications utilizing various database management systems (e.g., IMS, DB2 zOS, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Netezza, Hadoop, MapR)
• Knowledge of both online transaction processing and online analytical processing systems
• Knowledge of data modeling tools (e.g., ErStudio, ErWin)
• Knowledge of distributed (multi-tiered) systems and algorithms
• Knowledge of NOSQL design and flexible schema definitions with a variety of products (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase)
• Knowledge of infrastructure technologies and components (e.g., servers, Java virtual machines, networking concepts)

Work Experience:

• Experience in data architecture, data modeling, database development, and/or comparable experience

• Experience in data integration tools and extract, transform, and load processes (e.g., extract, transform, and load tools like Informatica, Talend, or SSIS)

• Experience in database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and data warehousing solutions

• Experience in data security protocols and compliance standards

• Experience in documenting data processes and workflows

• Experience in data modeling and database design principles

• Experience in metadata management and database management concepts
