Data Architect (Azure)

Role overview

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Data Architect (Azure) for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe. Our client operates a fleet of kiosk terminals running Windows 11 IoT Enterprise with a single Unity application in Shell Launcher kiosk mode. You will take the existing master image to a release-ready state and then support and maintain it. This is Windows systems and imaging work — the Unity application itself is built and maintained by another team and is out of scope.

The project focuses on building a scalable and governed data platform to support analytics and reporting needs. The solution involves onboarding diverse SQL and non-SQL data sources, designing and developing data marts, and enabling reporting through Power BI.

As part of this initiative, the team will define the required data marts and migrate the existing database to Snowflake, helping establish a scalable and reliable foundation for future analytics and reporting.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, with strong experience in enterprise data architecture and architecture ownership.

• Strong experience in data modeling, data architecture, data ingestion, and data platform modernization.

• Hands-on experience with the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Key Vault, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Managed Instance/SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Functions.

• Strong experience with Azure Cosmos DB, including its application in data and AI/LLM architectures.

• Strong proficiency in SQL/T-SQL for data analysis, transformation, and performance optimization.

• Solid understanding of Snowflake architecture, including best practices for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

• Strong experience designing and implementing Azure Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures.

• Experience working with both structured and genuinely unstructured data from diverse sources.

• Experience with metadata- and configuration-driven data ingestion and scalable data platform design.

• Strong understanding of data security, privacy, and governance requirements.

• Experience designing data architectures to support RAG, Generative AI, and/or Agentic AI applications.

• Hands-on experience working with documents, OCR, text extraction, metadata, chunking, embeddings, and vector search/retrieval.

• Experience with storage and search technologies supporting RAG, Generative AI, and/or Agentic AI applications.

• Experience preparing enterprise data and knowledge for retrieval and AI consumption.

• Experience delivering production and/or proof-of-concept RAG, Generative AI, or Agentic AI solutions.

• Will be a plus

• Hands-on development of RAG solutions or AI agents.

• Experience designing the data architecture around applications using RAG and/or Agentic AI patterns, including how enterprise data and knowledge are ingested, prepared, stored, governed, and made available for retrieval and AI consumption.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF).

• Support and enhance data warehousing solutions in Snowflake, ensuring performance and scalability.

• Manage sensitive data securely using Azure Key Vault.

• Work with large and diverse datasets from internal and external sources.

• Collaborate with analysts, architects, and business teams to define data requirements and deliver actionable insights.

• Apply best practices in data modeling, transformation logic, and cloud data integration.

• Troubleshoot performance issues, ensure data quality, and implement robust monitoring.

• Design and support enterprise Azure data architectures.

• Design data architectures for applications using RAG, GenAI, and/or Agentic AI patterns.

• Design how enterprise data and knowledge are ingested, prepared, stored, governed, and made available for retrieval and AI consumption.
