About the Role
Under general supervision, performs gynecological and non-gynecological cytology examinations for cytopathological diagnosis, ensures QC, and may assist with laboratory testing and equipment maintenance. This role involves quality assurance participation and possible supervision duties after CLIA Medical Director delegation.
What You'll Do
- Examine GYN and Non-GYN slides for cytological diagnosis of malignancies, infections, or other abnormal conditions; refer positives or significantly abnormal specimens to the cytopathologist.
- Ensure validity and accuracy of test results; interpret acceptability of quality controls (QC).
- Monitor QC for trends; document and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Perform troubleshooting procedures; identify testing problems and propose solutions per guidelines.
- Comply with Cytology-related regulations and QC/workload/qualification requirements.
- Retrieve and file materials; serve as liaison with internal/external customers/employees/clients.
- Participate in developing new test methodologies, procedures, and QC ranges; participate in regulatory inspections.
- Assist with training of new staff and/or students.
- If delegated by the CLIA Medical Director, perform competency reviews, proficiency testing reviews, QA data compilation/review, and act as supervisor in lead absence (including staffing coverage).
- May collect specimens, prepare/process/stain cytological specimens, operate laboratory equipment, and perform basic maintenance.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or related science; graduate from an accredited school of Cytotechnology.
- CT(ASCP) certification or equivalent.
- Visual acuity to differentiate cell abnormalities; ability to sit for extended periods.
- CLIA-compliant testing personnel qualifications for moderate to high complexity testing.
Nice to Have
- Up to two years minimum experience (preferred).
Compensation & Benefits
- Sign-on bonus: $5,000.00; Relocation bonus available.
- Hourly pay; location: Woodward, OK. Schedule includes weekdays with potential weekends/holidays as needed.
- This role falls under general and clinical laboratory supervisory pathways per CLIA regulations.
