About the Role Join DHL as a Customs Entry Writer to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported products, while processing entries to US Customs. You will compute tariffs and price conversions, review invoices and shipping documents, and work to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.
What You'll Do
- Plan and direct the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations
- Classify dutiable import/export shipments for regulatory compliance with government rules and regulations
- Process requests for extensions, expiration, cancellation, and all government entries
- Communicate with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling and delivery processes
- Apply for Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility
- Maintain open communication with the Department of Foreign Affairs
- Receive and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence
- Examine online invoices and documents to determine the correct Harmonized Tariff Code and ensure accurate classification
- Ensure knowledge of US Customs Regulations and Foreign Trade Agreements
- Be detail oriented, organized, and manage time effectively
- Process shipments through various online portals for FDA and US Customs clearance
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associate degree preferred)
- Overtime is required
- 1 year experience in transportation or customs preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), databases and web-based applications
- Strong oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills; courteous and clear telephone voice
- Proficiency on a 10 key calculator
Nice to Have
- Associate degree preferred
- Experience with FDA and US Customs online portals for clearance
