About this role

What you'll do

  • Giga Energy is hiring a highly capable Customs Declaration Logistics Specialist to own customs declarations for all goods coming into the company. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who knows customs inside and out. You’ll review entries in ACE, classify products correctly, manage duty and tariff spend, and work with international trade lawyers when complex issues come up. We’re looking for someone sharp, detail-driven, and able to take full ownership of inbound customs from day one.

Where you'll work

This role is ideally based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays.

That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you're the right person for this role, we'll have a conversation about what works.

Responibilities

  • Prepare, review, and manage customs declarations for all inbound shipments, making sure entries are accurate, complete, and on time.

  • Use the CBP ACE portal to submit and track entries, pull reports, and resolve discrepancies.

  • Determine and maintain correct HTS classifications for all imported products.

  • Review and create commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and broker filings before and after submission.

  • Manage and audit our third party customs brokers

  • Track and manage duty and tariff spend, and find ways to reduce costs through exclusions, drawback, FTAs, or other programs.

  • Stay on top of tariff and trade policy changes and flag how they affect our imports.

  • Work with international trade lawyers on classification questions, rulings, protests, and compliance issues.

  • Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, carriers, and brokers to clear shipments quickly and resolve holds or exams.

  • Keep customs records organized and audit-ready.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in customs, import compliance, or logistics coordination.

  • Hands-on experience filing and managing entries in ACE.

  • Strong knowledge of HTS classification, customs valuation, and country-of-origin rules.

  • Proven ability to manage high shipment volumes with accuracy under deadlines.

  • Strong communication skills with internal teams, vendors, and legal counsel.

Bonus points

  • Licensed U.S. Customs Broker.

  • Experience importing electrical, industrial, or heavy equipment.

  • Familiarity with Section 232/301 tariffs, AD/CVD, and duty drawback.

  • Experience working directly with trade attorneys.

  • Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP or logistics systems.
