About the Role The ORBIShield Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co-Op at ORBIS Corporation supports the Custom Design/Engineering Team by assisting with packaging designs and prototypes based on customer specifications. This hands-on role provides exposure to materials and manufacturing processes with in-depth design training. By the end of the co-op, students will be proficient in SolidWorks, able to create and interpret final prints, and prepared to manage a project from concept through execution. The position runs from June 2027 to December 2027.

What You'll Do

• Lead and manage assigned project/projects
• Provide design samples to meet customer and sales needs on a timely basis
• Deliver cost-effective and manufacturable designs from concept to production
• Apply technical skill, knowledge and judgment to ensure designs meet customer needs
• Ensure design quality prior to manufacturing by fabricating a prototype for customer approval
• Suggest improvements to issues discovered during assembly and manufacturing
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and follow company safety policies
• Seek assistance or guidance from design team members or manager when necessary

What We're Looking For

• Junior or Senior pursuing a Technical or Bachelor’s degree in Plastic Engineering Technology, Packaging Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of plastic processing, mechanical engineering, and packaging engineering
• Ability to interpret blueprints
• Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks)
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Knowledge of automotive/vehicle products
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Ability to travel to manufacturing plants
• Accuracy and attention to detail
