Job title: Cushion Design Engineer

About the Role

Autoliv China Tech Centre – CTC is seeking a Cushion Design Engineer to conduct cushion design, development and engineering in Asia in alignment with Autoliv standards, legal and OEM requirements. The role includes project ownership for cushion development and collaboration across teams, with implementation of PLM/DVM/CAD guidelines to deliver high-quality safety systems.

What You'll Do

• Conduct cushion design, development & engineering in Asia based on Autoliv standards, legal requirements & OEM requirements;
• Responsible for cushion development of assigned projects, in line with cost, timing and quality objectives;
• Further involvement of LLs work, case study, TFC review, Design Review, and share experience to the team;
• Assist Group manager/Leaders on GDP activities, help to transfer global technology in Asia;
• Follow up of cushion design guideline, and implementation of PLM/DVM/CAD;
• Quotation definition and new material qualifications;
• Further involvement in Line & Design workshop to improve plant’s capability;
• Conduct the selection of key components & materials for cushion new development & engineering in Asia;
• Support SQE to improve cushion supplier technical skill;
• Evaluate engineering change request & report on feasibility and estimate how much time/cost will be impacted;
• Represent cushion engineering in project team and assist project manager with internal project management;
• Regular report project status in terms of cost/timing/quality objectives to the project leader and in parallel to Technical manager;
• Support and review the work of assistant cushion engineer;
• Provide technical support to production, in quickly resolving cushion engineering related issues;
• Contribute to continue improvements, innovations and standardization;

What We're Looking For

• Proven ability to conduct cushion design, development and engineering in Asia based on internal standards, legal requirements and OEM requirements;
• Experience managing cushion development of assigned projects in line with cost, timing and quality objectives;
• Involvement in LLs work, case study, TFC review, Design Review, and sharing experience with the team;
• Ability to assist GDP activities and transfer global technology in Asia;
• Familiarity with cushion design guidelines and implementation of PLM/DVM/CAD;
• Experience defining quotations and qualifying new materials;
• Involvement in Line & Design workshops to improve plant capability;
• Experience selecting key components & materials for cushion development & engineering in Asia;
• Ability to support SQE to improve cushion supplier technical skill;
• Ability to evaluate engineering change requests and report on feasibility and time/cost impact;
• Ability to represent cushion engineering in project teams and assist project manager with internal project management;
• Ability to regularly report project status to project leader and Technical manager;
• Ability to mentor/assist the work of assistant cushion engineer;
• Ability to provide technical support to production and resolve cushion engineering issues;
• Desire to contribute to continuous improvements, innovations and standardization.
