About the Role The Cape Fox Cultural Foundation is seeking a dedicated Cultural Ambassador to represent CFCF, promote Tlingit heritage, language, and traditions through community engagement, educational outreach, and cultural programming. The role may also support retail operations within the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center as needed to help sustain Foundation initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Share Tlingit cultural knowledge through presentations, storytelling, and workshops.
- Represent CFCF at community events, schools, and cultural gatherings.
- Support Tlingit language revitalization efforts and traditional arts demonstrations.
- Build relationships with Elders, youth, and community members to promote cultural continuity.
- Coordinate and participate in events such as the Elder Dinner, youth programs, and seasonal celebrations.
- Assist in planning and executing cultural programs and grant-funded initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Grants Manager and other staff to ensure cultural integrity in programming.
- Document and report on outreach activities and community feedback.
- Participate in weekly check-in meetings to review accomplishments, challenges, and upcoming goals.
- Support retail operations at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center as needed (assist customers, cashier duties, keep gift shop safe and presentable).
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of and ability to share Tlingit culture, language, and traditions through presentations, storytelling, and workshops.
- Experience in community engagement, event coordination, and youth/elder program activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with Elders, youth, and community members; ability to promote cultural continuity.
- Experience collaborating with grants managers or program staff; commitment to cultural integrity in programming.
- Effective communication, organization, and documentation skills; ability to report outreach results and feedback.
- Availability to participate in weekly check-in meetings and adapt to program needs.
- Willingness to support retail operations in the Discovery Center as needed.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in the Tlingit language or strong interest in language revitalization.
- Experience working with Alaska Native communities and cultural organizations.
- Customer service or retail experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate: $25.00 USD
