Job Description
The CT Technologist is responsible for safely and proficiently performing laboratory, general radiography, and computerized tomography imaging procedures and related patient care according to government regulations, physician orders, policies, and procedures of the Imaging Department and the facility.
The CT Technologist is responsible for conducting regular inventory and ensuring facilities maintain proper levels of supplies through cooperation with the Facility Radiology Leader.
The CT Technologist conducts all radiology studies in accordance with the law and company policy.
The CT Technologist conducts proper documentation and consenting per protocol.
The CT Technologist participates in any and all certifications of the facility.
The CT Technologist follows all HIPAA policies and procedures.
The CT Technologist ensures that facilities are clean, well-maintained, and function in accordance with OSHA standards.
The CT Technologist helps train all new staff to use the equipment, follow policy and procedures, know their duties, and become familiar with the work environment.
The CT Technologist keeps the radiology suite clean at all times.
The CT Technologist reviews and upholds lab policies and procedures while assisting in the lab.
The CT Technologist assists in patient care to the extent that training and education allow. This may include obtaining vital signs, bringing patients back, swabbing patients, helping run lab results, starting IVs, and helping set up for procedures or other duties not usually performed by radiology technologists but that are within their scope of practice.
The CT Technologist administers and documents contrast material.
The CT Technologist follows infection control and safety guidelines.
The CT Technologist sends images to the Radiologist for interpretation/reading.
The CT Technologist accurately interprets a physician’s scanning instructions.
The CT Technologist prepares and operates CT scan equipment.
The CT Technologist has the ability to position the patient to capture appropriate images.
The CT Technologist maintains 100% attendance at mandatory skills training yearly.
The CT Technologist maintains all required professional certifications and licenses and participates in any and all certifications of the facility.
The CT Technologist maintains CEUs and completes yearly assigned education on time.
The CT Technologist collaborates with health team members to ensure the patient’s well-being as evidenced by staff/client feedback and supports the efforts of team members.
The CT Technologist performs Daily QA and documents limits; if outside of the limits, informs the Radiology Leader.
The CT Technologist checks dose output on all CT exams performed.
The CT Technologist uses medical and radiologic terminology.
The CT Technologist performs diagnostic procedures.
The CT Technologist maintains a quality focus, technical understanding, dependability, and the ability to analyze information and communicate effectively with patients.
The CT Technologist understands the physical demands of the job, including talking and hearing, vision requirements, and the ability to perform occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, lifting and assisting with patients.
The CT Technologist works in a healthcare setting and may be exposed to environmental conditions such as radiation, noise, infectious diseases, blood and blood-borne diseases, chemicals, odors, gases, and dusts, and may work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to toxic or caustic materials. The position may require standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, reaching, and possibly climbing, kneeling, or crouching.
Incumbents are scheduled based on operational need, including rotate shifts, standby, and on-call.

Qualifications

BLS required within first 30 days of employment

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two-year college or technical school.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and follow HIPAA regulations.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
-
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

A graduate of a 2-year accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
-
Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.

Must have and maintain MRT registration with the Texas Medical Board.

Must have adequate CT experience and proven competence as determined by the Radiation Safety Officer.

BLS Certification required.

Completed company provided laboratory testing course and competency.
