Job Summary

This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package.

St. Johns Farmers Market (SJFM) is in its eighteenth season operating as a mid-sized (40+ weekly vendors), locally run farmers market. The mission of the market is to strengthen community well-being by increasing access to fresh, local food; nurturing vendor success; and operating a welcoming, sustainable organization that supports the needs, values, and diversity of St. Johns.

Core Duties

• Attend the market at least twice per month to take photos and videos for social media. The farmers market takes place on Saturday, 9-2, through November 21st.
• Post on the farmers market Instagram and Facebook accounts, including stories, posts, and reels
• Create a portfolio of social media features of vendors to be posted on Instagram and Facebook throughout the market season.
• Interview vendors by phone or email to learn more about their stories and products; write a social No use of AI or Chat GPT permitted in this role – we want the posts to have a human touch!
• Site visits to vendors for interviews or media collection are a possibility.
• Ensure a special focus on features of BIPOC vendors.
• Examples, guidance, and vendor contact information will be provided by the Market Director.
• Other relevant duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Must have Federal Work Study fund in Financial Aid Package

• Writing experience, including use of clear grammar.
• Experience using Canva or willingness to learn.
• Proactive communication skills.
• Have a phone with a camera capable of taking photos and videos.
• Ability to travel to farmers market and office at the St. Johns Church.
• Understanding or lived experience of the diverse communities here in St Johns.
• Proven experience in applying anti-racist approaches to work practices.
• Collaborative & works well with others.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and to bend at the waist.
• Ability to travel to office at the St. Johns Church and throughout the St. Johns neighborhood.
