Job title: C++/Rust Graphics and Windowing System Software Engineer
About the Role Canonical is hiring a C++/Rust Graphics and Windowing System Software Engineer to design, implement and test features across the Mir stack, contribute to Ubuntu Frame, and engage with the open source community and commercial partners. The role focuses on high‑performance graphics and display technology across environments from edge devices to full desktop experiences, with remote work in the EMEA or APAC regions.
What You'll Do
- Design and implementation of features across the Mir stack
- Assist in debugging, tracking down and fixing issues
- Participate in our engineering process through code and architectural review
- Create and improve tests and performance benchmarks to catch issues early
- Create and maintain documentation to enhance the developer experience
- Engage with the open source community and commercial partners
What We're Looking For
- Strong skills in both Rust and C++
- Experience in building window compositing systems or graphics device experience
- Minimum of 2 years industry experience
- Experience with graphics toolkits and libraries
- Passion for precision, performance and user experience
- Interest in Mir and Ubuntu Frame and related graphics ecosystems

- Experience with Mir and Ubuntu Frame
