Job title: Credit Analysis - Oil & Gas, Associate
About the Role The CSPC team at Mizuho is responsible for credit applications and internal ratings in the Americas. This role acts as a linchpin among branches, agencies and credit departments, requiring deep Oil & Gas industry knowledge and market awareness to guide senior management on credit decisions.
What You'll Do
- Analyze credit including borrower worthiness, loan structure, risk/return, operating profile and industry profile (historical P&L, financial condition, cash flow). Create cash flow projections and assess management and Mizuho sensitivity cases.
- Compare prospective borrowers to peers, prepare clear Credit Opinions, and discuss potential credit-structure changes for approval.
- Assess small E&P companies with Reserve-Based Lending (RBL), incorporating independent reserve engineer recommendations, RBL policy, regulatory guidelines and collateral analysis.
- Present credit approval recommendations to senior management; assign internal/regulatory risk ratings as required.
- Coordinate with Energy relationship managers and portfolio managers; engage in external meetings with syndicate banks, rating agencies, clients and law firms.
- Proactively monitor borrowers/industry subsectors using market data (share price, EDF, CDS, loan secondary prices) and report impacts to Senior Management.
- Ensure compliance with credit standards and policies; serve as a liaison gathering information from branches/agencies/credit departments and senior management.
What We're Looking For
- Proven credit analysis skills with the ability to assess credit trends, migration and default risk; Oil & Gas industry experience including RBL for smaller E&P companies.
- Ability to write well-organized, accurate reports and perform thoughtful cash flow projections (with AI tools if applicable).
- Strong multitasking and ongoing portfolio monitoring capabilities.
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or Economics or strong quantitative background; solid time management and planning skills.
- Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills; ability to present credit packages to decision makers.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in teams; strong knowledge of Mizuho credit policies.
- Proficiency with Capital IQ, Bloomberg, MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Formalized credit training from an accredited financial institution with 6+ years of experience and strong financial modeling skills.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary expected to be between $95,000 and $115,000 annually.
