DONE WITH LIFE ON THE ROAD?
This is a permanent, local role. No chasing the next contract, no living out of a hotel. You'll work a predictable 4-on/4-off schedule, sleep in your own bed, and have half the year off to spend with family. We're looking for a seasoned technician who wants to settle in, take ownership of our crane fleet, and build a long-term career with one company.
THE ROLE
As a Senior Crane Technician, you'll keep the overhead and gantry cranes that move ladles, coils, and equipment throughout the mill safe and reliable. You'll be a go-to troubleshooter on your crew and help set the standards for how our cranes are maintained from day one.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
-
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on overhead bridge, gantry, and ladle cranes, including hoists, trolleys, brakes, wire rope, gearboxes, wheels, and rails
-
Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues and get cranes back in service quickly
-
Conduct and document routine crane inspections per OSHA and ASME standards
-
Support commissioning and startup alongside OEM and contractor personnel
-
Mentor less experienced technicians and share your know-how across the crew
-
Follow lockout/tagout, fall protection, and all company safety practices
-
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
-
10–15+ years of industrial maintenance experience; crane experience strongly preferred, but a solid general maintenance background will be considered
-
Steel mill, heavy manufacturing, or similar industrial experience
-
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills; working knowledge of basic electrical systems (high-voltage experience not required)
-
A track record of stability and commitment, with a desire to grow with one team long-term
-
Comfortable working at heights and in hot, heavy industrial environments
-
Willing to work the 4-on/4-off rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
-
High school diploma or GED required
