Job title: Court Services Supervisor 1
About the Role Join New Jersey Judiciary as a Court Services Supervisor 1 in the Criminal Division at the Essex Vicinage. You will oversee case management activities, supervise staff, and help ensure efficient court operations and quality service. This role blends leadership, process improvement and direct engagement with the public and court staff.
What You'll Do
- Answer questions posed by the public, clients, customers, complainants, subordinates or supervisors.
- Assign workload or specific duties to staff or team members.
- Conduct formal work performance evaluations.
- Coordinate work activities of unit or team members and develop work unit goals.
- Instruct staff on work-related matters; lead a case management team; mediate conflicts; mentor and coach staff.
- Provide direction and feedback; oversee proper implementation of operating procedures or systems.
- Plan (prioritize) work and prepare technical, statistical, financial, review or evaluation reports.
- Recommend procedures or practices to ensure efficient court/unit operations; regulate flow of work according to operating schedules.
- Schedule staff or team members' work hours or vacation time.
- Perform other necessary duties as required.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of paraprofessional and/or professional experience, one year of which shall have included experience in case management; enforcement of court orders; and/or supervision, monitoring and intervention of offenders.
- Substitution options: an associate degree plus two years of additional paraprofessional/professional experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree may substitute for one year of general experience; a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school may substitute for two years of general experience. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.
- Driver's license valid in New Jersey if operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties; selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US; US citizenship is not required.
- A thorough background check including fingerprinting will be required for newly hired employees.
- Residency: New Jersey residency within one year is required unless exemptions apply.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $67,236.14 to $109,298.70 or $67,236.14 to $103,833.79.
- Starting salary for new hires is normally at the minimum of the salary range. The Judiciary offers opportunities for growth and supports hybrid work with up to 2 days remote.
