About the Role The Court Clerk Associate provides intermediate-level administrative support in the County Clerk's Office and ensures courteous customer service to the public. This role handles case management, records maintenance, and essential clerical duties to support judicial processes within the courthouse. What You'll Do
- Assist the public, attorneys, and other agencies with information, resources, procedures and court rules; answer and screen calls and direct to appropriate staff.
- Manage daily civil, criminal, domestic, and juvenile case files; maintain computer records and ensure compliance with statutes.
- Record and receipt payments; balance cash drawer; assist Accounting with end-of-day activities.
- Prepare court calendars, schedule hearings, and ensure due process and timely hearings; re-schedule as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of case files; file in paper and electronic formats.
- Perform courtroom duties: draft minutes, record proceedings, track exhibits, swear witnesses, and file orders; issue bench warrants as ordered.
- Update judges with case information; enter accurate entries into statewide computer program.
- Enter judgments, liens, warrants, writs, and other documents; process invoices and fines.
- Review incoming documents for completeness; route follow-up to appropriate officials.
- File and/or scan pleadings (paper and e-filing); maintain court records and exhibits.
- Draft letters and court orders; prepare legal documents including restraining orders and judgments.
- Manage records retention and perform general clerical tasks; notarize documents as needed.
- Process appeals information and coordinate with transcriptionists, attorneys, and Court of Appeal staff.
- Assist jury department with disbursing payment cards and certificates of jury service; process passport applications.
- Consolidate and preserve historical records; monitor scanned documents for accuracy.
- Train clerical staff and assist during peak periods; perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of administrative support experience or any combination of education and experience.
- Ability to obtain certification as a US Passport Agent.
- US Citizen; valid Washington State Driver’s License if driving County business.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Nice to Have
