Courier Operations Specialist

About this role

Courier Operations Specialist

The Courier Operations Specialist is the analytical engine and commercial partner behind Bolt Food's courier marketplace in Malta. You will own the health of our supply, balancing service quality, courier earnings and efficiency, and help shape the strategy that takes our operations to the next level.

This is not an operational support role. You will sit in strategic and tactical discussions with the Operations Manager and turn data into decisions. We expect you to form a point of view, back it with evidence, and drive it through to execution and measurable impact, owning projects and initiatives from end-to-end.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Data Analytics & Insights: Lead analytical deep dives and root-cause analyses, answering business questions end-to-end, from query to recommendation, using Looker, Google Sheets and AI tools. Build and maintain dashboards and models for supply planning, partner performance, courier earnings and unit economics. Turn complex analysis into clear narratives for leadership and partners, and measure the impact of every initiative to scale what works and stop what doesn't.
  • Fleet Account Management: Manage a portfolio of fleet partners as commercial accounts through regular business reviews, performance scorecards and joint growth plans. Understand partners' economics, agree targets and commitments, and align their incentives with what the marketplace needs. Hold partners accountable on service levels and quality, escalating where needed. Protect the long-term health of the supply ecosystem, with a sustainable balance between fleet partners and self-employed couriers, competitive earnings and a resilient supply base.
  • Marketplace Efficiency: Shape the courier operations strategy and contribute to quarterly and annual planning with data-backed proposals. Use marketplace levers to balance supply and demand while managing the trade-offs between them: courier availability, utilisation, earnings, incentives, supply mix and service quality. Design and test initiatives with clear hypotheses and success metrics. Spot structural issues before they show up in the headline numbers, and come with solutions, not just problems.
  • Automation & AI Tooling: Find repetitive manual workflows across the team and replace them with scalable automations, such as Google Apps Script, workflow tools, n8n and AI agents. Build self-serve tools and automated reporting so the team spends its time on decisions rather than gathering data. Champion effective AI use in analysis, partner communication and day-to-day operations without lowering the quality of the output. Partner with Product and Global teams to turn successful local solutions into platform features.
  • Supply Lifecycle & Quality: Own the partner acquisition and activation funnel, improving applicant conversion and time to first delivery, and keep supply at the right level by zone and time of day. Define courier quality standards, monitor performance and act on underperformance. Design scalable onboarding, training, documentation and eligibility processes, and drive initiatives that strengthen the courier value proposition, engagement and retention.
  • Compliance, Fraud, Safety & Public Policy: Ensure compliance with local regulations (e.g. DAC7, employment and platform-work legislation) and company policies, and support regulatory and public policy topics affecting couriers and fleet partners. Detect and investigate fraud by couriers and partners (e.g. account sharing, GPS spoofing, order manipulation), and put controls in place to prevent it. Oversee incident management and courier safety protocols, with a focus on prevention.
  • Cross-functional: Work with Global, Product and local Commercial teams to launch new tools and features, and represent local needs in product roadmaps. Track competitor activity and market trends, and turn those insights into a stronger courier offering. Work with other teams across the business, including Legal, Public Policy, Customer Support, ride-hailing and merchant account managers, to improve service levels and support a sustainable industry.
