Job title: Cost & Project Controls Specialist (Nuclear)
About the Role The Cost & Project Controls Specialist (Nuclear) is responsible for cost control and project support activities for nuclear projects. This role focuses on creating, maintaining, and analyzing cost budgets versus actuals, forecasted costs at completion, accruals, and reporting to the Project Team, Project Manager, and management.
What You'll Do
- Set up and maintain project cost control systems to track original and current budgets, pending/approved/rejected change orders and budget transfers, actual spend, estimate-to-complete, estimate-at-completion, and variances against control budgets and work progress.
- Gather, consolidate, and incorporate into reports all required costs, progress and performance data and charts; ensure data accuracy and timeliness; issue reports as required.
- Provide clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management; prepare reports and presentations to management; issue status reports as needed.
- Coordinate with all functional departments and Supply Chain to ensure timely project and contract information flows; interact with Supply Chain as required.
- Deliver projects with cost certainty; manage and control costs; manage risk by identifying and mitigating risks.
- Participate as a member of the site’s emergency response organization.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum education: B.S. in Engineering or other scientific discipline generally associated with power plant operations, or accounting or equivalent work experience. Equivalent experience defined as demonstrated success at the Finance Specialist level.
- Preferred education: B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related discipline.
- Experience: Project Controls Specialist I (Nuc): 0+ years; II (Nuc): 2+ years; III (Nuc): 4+ years in nuclear power design, construction, maintenance, operations, production, finance, or equivalent.
- Desired: Experience in an operating nuclear power plant environment; 3 years of equivalent work experience.
- Minimum knowledge, skills: Basic understanding of Project Management or Project Controls concepts; ability to apply computer attributes using spreadsheets, databases, and other software.
- Highly preferred: Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Desired: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication skills; conflict resolution skills.
