About the Role
The Cost Accountant will maintain daily costing activities for the division and plant, perform monthly cost and margin analyses, and identify cost improvement opportunities across materials, labor and factory overhead. This role supports month-end close, inventory valuation, and P&L reporting, driving process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Maintain daily costing activities, prepare monthly cost analysis and margin analysis on variances, scrap ratio, etc., for management and identify cost improvement opportunities including materials, labor and factory overhead
- Be responsible for monthly closing on costing, variance allocation, inventory, general ledger, P&L, etc. to ensure timely and accurate close
- Lead the monthly cycle count and annual stocktaking
- Prepare monthly performance, consolidation and cost saving reports accurately and on time
- Comply with Corning policy and SOX requirements
- Monitor spending and work with department managers to control costs; research and provide detail on expense variances
- Drive finance process improvement
- Provide financial analysis related to capital projects, cost reduction, and other initiatives as required
- Prepare monthly financial reports for division and plant
- Ad-hoc assignments by the supervisor
What We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor and/or above; major in finance, accounting, or related fields; CICPA/ACCA preferred
- Experience: At least 3 years working experience in MNC; previous experience in manufacturing costing or audit firm preferred
- Skills/Competencies: Strong financial analytical skills; solid knowledge of PRC GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS; solid knowledge of ERP systems (QAD/SAP) preferred; good verbal and written English; Advanced Excel; good communication and teamwork
- EHS: Knowledge of relevant environmental, health and safety regulations and adherence to EHS rules
