Job title: Core Component Designer (m/f/d)
About the Role Core Component Designer (m/f/d) in the rotating electrical machines (REM) R&D department at ANDRITZ Hydropower, Weiz. You will design and optimize core components of REM, acting as the key 3D CAD designer within interdisciplinary teams to deliver robust, manufacturable designs.
What You'll Do
- Act as a key 3D CAD designer for core components of REM including generators, working closely within interdisciplinary R&D teams (electromagnetic, insulation, mechanical and ventilation experts).
- Design, develop and optimize active parts (magnetic and electric field–relevant components), including salient poles, high voltage bar windings and stator/rotor cores based on input from engineering colleagues.
- Create precise geometry models to support advanced numerical simulations (CFD/CHT and FE) performed by calculation engineers.
- Prepare high quality 3D models, technical drawings and complete BOMs for components used in development projects, prototypes and test rigs.
- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning to ensure robust, manufacturable and well-integrated designs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, methods and tools.
What We're Looking For
- Completed technical education (HTL, FH, Uni, or similar) in mechanical engineering.
- Relevant professional experience; design and mechanical calculation knowledge in large rotating electrical machines.
- Good knowledge in 3D CAD – preferably Siemens NX; PLM – Siemens Teamcenter and MS Office.
- Good command of German and English.
- Willingness to travel (5%).
- Ability to work in a team and strong communication skills.
