Job title: Coordinator of Campus Activities and Recreation
About the Role This position is responsible for developing, planning and implementing programs, activities, and events that promote student engagement for all students that will lead to a vibrant campus. This position will provide oversight and leadership to the Alma College Union Board and advise, support, and provide leadership programming in the Alan J. Stone Recreation Center.
What You'll Do
- Provide visionary and strategic leadership for campus activities and recreation
- Assist with the supervision of student workers in the Rec Center
- Supervise student leaders in the Rec Center focused on intramural sports, special events, adventure recreation, fitness, and community programming
- Oversee campus-wide programming, which includes the creation and implementation of on and off campus events that is designed to create a vibrant and engaging student experience. These events include but not limited to Homecoming, Siblings Weekend, Student Organization fairs and off campus excursions
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Alma College Union Board, which includes advising, marketing, budget oversight, event management, program planning and assessment
- Assist with the assessment participation outcomes and goals related to involvement, engagement and student success
- Coordinate and manage scheduling, payroll, reservations, trainings, and the climbing wall in the Rec Center
- Additional responsibilities include participation in several divisional and college committees, including Become a Scot Day Orientation and Tartan 101 Onboarding
- Develop strategic relationships with key campus stakeholders to increase engagement
- Participates in the Student Affairs On Call Rotation as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree and experience in a higher education setting or working with college students
- Two years of experience developing and executing programs and events
- Marketing and promotion experience
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within established timelines
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage student organizations and develop organization leaders
- Ability to respond to emergencies quickly in locations across campus
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree
- Experience planning and implementing Intramural sports, fitness classes, and Adventure Recreation programming
- Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations
